Will the pods fit my machine?

Italian Bean Delight sells pods conforming to the EASY SERVERING ESPRESSO (ESE) standard, also known as "45 mm" pods or "hard" pods. Espresso pods are specifically made for espresso machines — i.e., machines that use pressure (15 bar nominal pressure or more) to force hot water through ground espresso coffee in 30 seconds or less. If your coffee maker does not produce a shot of 1 ounce in 20 to 30 seconds, you probably do not have an espresso machine and the E.S.E. pods will not work in it.

The logo at right is the official ESE Consortium seal.

ESE espresso pods are not compatible with

Senseo, Melitta One, Black & Decker, Keurig

or any other single-cup coffee brewers. Those machines do not make espresso.

ESE pods also cannot be used with

Nespresso, Bennoti, or Comobar 2000

machines which use proprietary espresso capsules.

Espresso pods, or, E.S.E. espresso pods, are paper pouches filled with espresso-ground coffee and made to the Easy Serving Espresso consortium standard. Since paper is used, the espresso tastes a little different compared to traditional espresso machines. The single-serving espresso pod is 45mm in diameter and contains 7 grams of ground, roasted Espresso beans.
